December 13 is also when Ms. Angela Vicente (vocals) and Mr. Vincent Reyes (guitar) will make their Fil-Am JazzFest debuts.
Angela and Vincent are the winners of the 2011 JazzPhil-USA Talent Search. They’ll join featured performers Abe Lagrimas (drums, ukulele), Winston Raval (piano), VJ Rosales (vocals) and Noel Melanio (harmonica). The concert is hosted by KKJZ 88.1 FM’s Bubba Jackson and the Queen of Jazzipino Charmaine Clamor.
From a deep pool of talented Filipino-American applicants, Vincent and Angela earned the honor of performing at the JazzFest when they were selected by an elite panel of judges, including Gramnmy-nominee Denise Donatelli, KKJZ DJ Brad Williams, and record executive Michael Konik. The winners earned a recording session with guitar maestro Ric Ickard, private coaching from Filipino jazz legend Mon David, and an invitation to perform at the Philippines International Jazz Festival in 2012.
